Wedding Calligraphy allows for so many unique and personal touches

If there is one thing people associate with weddings, it’s pretty writing. Enter my wedding calligraphy. Sometimes, the wedding calls for formal Copperplate calligraphy, while other functions require modern calligraphy. Whichever style of wedding calligraphy writing is chosen, my love for pretty writing always impresses!

Hand written wedding invitations

From start to finish this invitation set was phenomenal on every level. We started with hand made black paper, added very fancy Copperplate calligraphy, matched gold calligraphy place cards for this very intimate New Year’s Eve Wedding!

Truly unique place cards

How pretty is the dainty hand painted spring green vine paired with formal Copperplate calligraphy? I love the classic black ink and how it allows the vine to dance across each place card.

These cards are available in my Etsy Shop, and can be purchased by clicking here.

Aubergine Order of Events

As soon as I mixed the perfect shade of aubergine, this order of events acrylic sign was on it’s way to becoming one of my favorites. The aubergine pairs so perfectly with the gold writing and was such perfect complement to the fall wedding theme.

Watercolor florals and hand calligraphy

Wedding suite

Handpainted blush flowers with sage green leaf accents were only the beginning of this one of a kind wedding suite. The watercolor flowers provided an excellent envelope liner and were the backdrop of the vellum overlay prominently featuring gold metallic bride and groom names. Pretty pink hand written calligraphy graced both the reply card and envelope!

Hand made menus

This beautiful menu is still one of my most favorite I ever created. I began with the always lovely Copperplate calligraphy to highlight the course offerings, adding metallic gold touches on a vellum overlay. This was then rivet mounted to a thick pure white board, and finished with a hand dyed sage green bow.

Envelope addressing

Classic Copperplate calligraphy will always stand as my preferred style to address wedding envelopes. The hand lends itself to both casual and formal weddings, bridal showers, save the date announcements.

For this particular order, I matched the custom gray ink featured on the Save the Date Announcements for the Copperplate calligraphy featured here on the envelopes. I absolutely loved how pretty these envelopes looked.

Vellum place cards

Hand torn edges make the modern calligraphy names on these place cards so pretty. Also perfect for gift tags, the vellum adds a formal look to the cards. Vellum can complement copperplate calligraphy or modern calligraphy.

Tile place cards

These little tiles were used as place cards for an outdoor reception featuring a water fountain in the same shape. Gold metallic modern calligraphy welcomed each guest to their spot at the table and provided such a nice gift. I love the flourishes in this modern calligraphy style.

What a creative couple that chose this idea!

Hand painted Save the Dates

These Save the Dates featured hand made elements in each step. I began with a lovely handmade square paper. I then applied a custom pink paint over it and added gold metallic modern calligraphy writing to the front. The envelopes features handmade paper liners with mini gold hearts in an all over pattern. What an amazing Valentine’s Day announcement these Save the Date cards were!

Envelope addressing

A colorful assortment of envelopes all written in beautiful Copperplate calligraphy. The finishing touch with these hand addressed envelopes is the choice of white ink for the calligraphy addressing. White ink is a fun twist to the formal Copperplate calligraphy used on these envelopes.

Hand lettered and completely customizable is this Welcome to our Wedding mirror sign. The delicate gold frame is the just dainty enough to not overpower the event, and adds such a nice formal touch to an event. Because I own this mirror, you are guaranteed a truly unique Welcome sign at your event.

Samples galore

I always like to provide a lot of samples to brides and planners after our initial meeting. I actually love this process because there is mixing of paint, and matching of ribbon, and experimenting with different hand made papers-total play time for me!

These three place cards were my starting point. For this fall wedding, I started with a burgundy paper and added very formal Copperplate calligraphy, keeping it a little less formal by only writing the first name. The second sample featured hand made off white paper that I did a simple red/burgundy watercolor wash over before using metallic gold to write one name in modern calligraphy. My third sample was a combination of sorts of the two previous ideas. -They ended up choosing the top choice-very formal gold metallic writing in the Copperplate calligraphy style!-

Hand painted place cards

Several washes of pink watercolor were applied to thick, French watercolor paper then finished with a metallic gold overlay. This was just the beginning.

A very playful modern calligraphy writing was chosen for the names. Choosing metallic gold for the writing added to the metallic sheen provided by the final wash of gold.

This modern calligraphy writing works so well for wedding place cards, but can also be perfect for bridal luncheons and gift tags.
